Sewakwatho
"Come on in"
She:kon/Greetings!
Sewakwatho (pronounced 'Zeh-wah-gwah-toe' meaning 'Come on in' in Kanien'kéha) is located on the Mohawk territory of Akwesasne, NY. It was founded by Debra Rourke in 2014 out of a need for a safe space for people newly sober and in recovery.
We believe in providing a safe space for our recovering addicts and alcoholics to gather to share their stories, lived experiences and support for each other. Our aim is to promote continued sobriety through instilling our people's traditions & cultural teachings, as well as the 12-step program of recovery. This offers a pathway to continued sobriety that is specifically targeted for our community members.
